Problem

Online pornography has created a huge problem for our churches and communities. The shift from the sex shop to smart phone means that porn has never been more accessible, affordable, anonymous or addictive. Just one online pornsite boasts a reach of over 100 million people every day. This is the first generation with anytime, anywhere access to unregulated hardcore content which deeply affects men, women and children physically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually.

Partnership

The P_Word conference is a partnership between CARE and NAKED TRUTH PROJECT, the flagship initiative of VISIBLE MINISTRIES. For decades, CARE have been engaged with parliament to address the issue of pornography and have played a significant role in shaping both past and present policy. Launched in 2013, Naked Truth aims to open eyes and free lives from the damaging impact of pornography through awareness, education and recovery programmes. Their team of communicators, educators and professional therapists work nationally to inform, train and to provide practical support to men and women of all ages.

Plan

Our heart is to equip leaders with a practical and pastoral response to the issue of pornography. The conference will feature a variety of short talks from a range of experts including activists, therapists, theologians and Parliamentarians. Delegates will receive both a clear understanding of the social costs of pornography and also be given practical tools to address pornography in their churches and communities.
